The JOY 519002-12 air filter element is part of the air compressor chain of filtration requirement, most of today compressor design come with the air filter included in the compressor factory package.
This intake air filter assembly have a consumable element that need to be replace.
It will protect the equipment by insuring no dust, pollen, dirt or other unwanted pollution get into the lubrification system of the air compressor.
Most of the time they will be multi-layer filter design to reduce differential pressure as contaminant build-up in the media.
