The KELTEC KV330-032P is a spin-on separator that looks a lot like an oil filter, often found in some smaller lubricated compressor and it's a critical component of the lubrication system.
A standard rotary screw air compressor separator assembly function is to filter and retain most of the oil inside the lubrication system, the oil concentration at the outlet of the compressor should be around a maximum of 5 ppm.
Spin-on separator are normally mounted upside-down to reduce the amount of oil lost at replacement. They normally need to be changed anywhere between 2000 hr and 4000 hr depending on the manufacturer recommendation.
